Our Righteousness Through Faith in Jesus Christ

Day XIII

I have been talking about Righteousness often. Today we will explore what righteousness is about. In the book of Romans it is explained as:

Romans 3

21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed –

  • Rom 1:17 For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, “The righteous by faith will live.”
  • Phil 3:9 and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness – a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness

22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  25 God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness, because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed.

  • 2 Cor 5:19 In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation.
  • Col 1:20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him,1 whether things on earth or things in heaven
  • Heb 4:16 Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
  • 1John 4:10  In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

26 This was also to demonstrate his righteousness in the present time, so that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness. 27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded! By what principle? Of works? No, but by the principle of faith! 28 For we consider that a person is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law.

  • Acts 13:38 Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,
  • Rom 8:3 For God achieved what the law could not do because1 it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh
  • Gal 2:16 yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
  • Heb 7:25 So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them

29 Or is God the God of the Jews only? Is he not the God of the Gentiles too? Yes, of the Gentiles too! 30 Since God is one, he will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not! Instead we uphold the law.

Remember that Jesus says he is the way, the truth and the life? Our salvation dear friends will ONLY come from Jesus Christ who died on the cross to redeem the world from sins. Brothers and Sisters if you don't have that relationship with Jesus Christ please seek for it. He is the only way to our salvation and he is the source of  Life. Today, I hope that the greatness of his name may come upon you to search your heart for his compassion and love. May we always praise Jesus for all he has done forever and ever. Amen.
