Today our words are so simple but very important.
From James 5:12 And above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath. But let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall into judgment.
Have you ever swear to do something and as situations tested you, you failed to deliver? Have you promised something to someone and failed to do it? Are you familiar with "white lies"? When you need to answer yes instead of NO?
Our scriptures for today is about how we use our YES and NO. Sounds easy but is it really?
Come to a stop and think about it. Do we solemnly swear we can do things on our own? Have you always been so perfect in giving your promise and certain that you will be able to deliver? Let us admit the fact that there are things beyond our control a minute from now we do not know what would happen. In an instant our plans may be interrupted because of unexpected situations. We can't even tell what would the future be. As the bible says we cant even know if the hair that would grow in our scalp would be gray or black.
In our passage we are instructed to just say Yes when its yes and say NO when its no. Let us keep that words in mind that when a question is being to us we think first before we utter our Yes or No. We should say Yes or No without any other explanation unless they asked. Can you do that? YES or NO?
May it be done for you and me. Amen!
